In October 2012 I joined the young creative team of a new startup magazine to contribute and help produce their first issue. Two courageous and extremely passionate women had an ambition to launch a new print magazine that would bridge the gap between Fashion, Art, Literature & Lifestyle. They approached me to take on a role of creative content director.
Milou Verbeke and Sabine de Graaf contacted me to supervise and produce features for the Fashion & Art chapters of the magazine and help to shape and maintain the visual language throughout the publication.
Issue No.1 First Glance
For this first issue I directed and styled 2 photoshoots; "Audience of One" is about an artist and his muse in his atelier, for "A vision of Art" I approached several artists and projected their work on a model who was wearing structured Dutch Design fashion pieces. With a grungy-looking location and contemporary hair styling on the models, the final concept became a new form of art which we also featured on the cover.
Other items I produced for this publication were an interview with abstract painter Daan Roukens, a still life jewellery shoot by photographer Frank de Graaf, a photo diary by photographer David Cohen de Lara and an interview with artist Amie Dicke. Plus shopping pages, reflecting the lifestyle of the targeted readers audience.
Issue No.2 A Journey
For the second issue my role was more directive, as we wanted to offer the stage to more young talents to showcase their skills and tell their story.
I organised an interview with FredFarrowBrittAvelonTan, created fashion shopping pages, directed a cosmetics photoshoot for female and male readers from a different angle, developed a photoshoot that translates iconic book covers into a model fashion shoot, an styled Lauren Verster for an interview.
